Ok as I'm in the market for a new screen I went to a local PC shop and the owner made me an offer that I'm looking at but need to find out whether or not its worth it.

He told me he will give me a Zalman Trimon zm M190 at cost price if I buy it from him as he is curious about the screen and the technology. He lives two houses from me! So I'm thinking not a bad deal but, the price tag is twice that of the 19\" LCD's I was looking at and from what I've read so far this screens 3D function is only supported with nVidia cards and there is a limited number of games that support this as yet.

So no biggy I've got an GeForce 6600GT that will do the job, but my issue is I'm planning on getting an 8800GT in a couple of months and if I understand it the support for the 8000 series is Vista only if it is released yet (apparently supported drivers would have been released Jan 2008) . Me not touching Vista (XP Pro for as long as I can).

I've googled on this a bit but not finding many reviews that are extensively or in depth on the driver support issue. So anyone own one or know more of this that can advise me on this.

The owner did tell to me I should hold out a bit before buying because the product is rather new on the market. He'll keep the offer on the table... (guessing till he gets someone else to buy one that is)

Sounds too new, support from games probably isn't all there, questionable if it will ever take off and you have to wear glasses for it to work. I'd think about sticking to traditional displays for now unless there is some really big reason you want this 3D function.

you can always use this with your new display.

Nvidia provides XP drivers for the 8xxx series of cards.

you don't get DX10 support, but thats vista only anyways.

I think they mean the 3d functions of the display don't have a driver in XP.

well, the first result on google for \"Zalman Trimon zm M190\" mentions that they can get the xp drivers,and he already stated his 6600 \"will do the job\", so he isn't asking about the monitor ...

to clarify, the steroscopic drivers are separate from the video card drivers, and they are currenly XP only.

nVIDIA’s 5000, 6000, and 7000 series (8000 series is not included) support playing games in 3D. ATI and other graphics cards currently do not support 3D games.

[Windows Vista User]
The stereoscopic driver that supports 3D games for Windows Vista and up to nVIDIA’s 8000 series is expected to be released in January of 2008.
(ATI and other graphics cards will not support 3D games)

2. For watching videos in 3D

All graphics card support watching videos in 3D.

And Krom is right I'm refering to the 3D funcion (screen drivers) not the driver of the GFX itself.
