Been using it for about a month now at work. It actually slowed my boot time.

It did fix the usb/network transfer speed issues however.

Could be just the machine I'm running it on:

IBM T60 Laptop
Core Duo 1.83GHz
2GB PC2 5300 RAM
60GB 5400 RPM SATA Drive

Either way I enjoy using it at work, but it's nice to still run XP at home. :)

After about a year of using Vista on one of the computers here, I've concluded that Vista is a dud, even with Service Pack 1. And now it's null and void, since Windows 7 is coming out in a few years. You guys were right. I'd rather use Windows XP Professional.

And soon it'll be time to say \"hasta la vista\" to Windows Vista for that computer. =P

If SP1 doesn't show up in windoze update, don't install it. There's most likely a SP1 incompatible driver installed that needs to be updated 1st. Udpate your system until SP1 shows up, then install it.

If you have a SP1 beta installed, uninstall it before trying to install SP1.

ahh who cares... I'm putting Windows XP SP2 back on there anyway =P

Hummm…I just installed SP1 yesterday, and it updated just about every driver on my machine anyway.

But I do agree that you should wait for your Windows update to install…I think that link is to a volume install. The page instructs you not to use it if you are only patching one machine.

There is a difference between Vista SP1 and Office 2007 SP1.

By the way here is the direct link to Vista SP1. There have been some issues with it showing up in WU for some people:

It showed up in Windows Update on my wife's laptop (an OEM Vista install), and installed with no problems. No issues whatsoever on that machine, and it certainly helped fix some file transfer slowdowns.

On my desktop, it hasn't shown up in the updates yet, so I'm just gonna wait.

Wow SP3...Any chance to break a perfectly good install is not good news.

I've been using SP3 for XP and its great. XP has never been so stable or quick. Sadly, its been downplayed by MS because they know it makes Vista SP1 look like a big pile of doo-doo.

That's because it IS a big pile of doo-doo.

FYI, Vista SP1 showed up on my desktop Auto-Updates last Friday. It installed with no issues, and I have not noticed any problems.
