How to discourage dogs from annoying you?

Hey, I've heard of dog whistles that can hurt a dog's ears and discourage them. Was wondering where I can find one of these, so I can stop dogs from barking/nipping at my heels/pissing on or tearing apart valuable equipment. I work as an installer and I find dogs can become a pain the but fast if people don't leash them and no one does around here. I'd like to find something to make them stop being a pain in the but without using the boot-to-the-head method lol.

I generally get along well with animals but every once in a while I do run into that annoying chihuahua.

Plastic wiffleball bat always worked for me. Doesn't hurt'em, scares the crap out of them. *whomp*

You should be able to get a dog whistle at a pet store. They don't hurt dogs ears, they can just hear it.

Personally, I believe in canned habaneros.

I love dogs, I really do, but we've had dogs in my neighborhood that the owners just let run wild. They run in packs and can be dangerous.

14.4khz buzz on my cell phone (if you can play it in enough time) works well on the neighbor's dog for me! I can get it to go nuts from across the yard, and it runs quite fast for a little yippy fuzzball

Just google \"High frequency buzz\" and click on first link. Should be a download on there somewheres
