My wife needs one for school now =/. I want to spend no more than 500 total and preferably less
. Mainly she will be using it for writing papers but the more features the better.

Yeah I looked at the Asus machines but they have small screens. Does anyone have any experience with this machine or Acer in general?

I have a Acer LCD which I like, never had to deal with the tech support before.
I've owned a Toshiba and ASUS before, I enjoyed both, alot of co-workers have dells, mainly cause I work for Dell, Dell has some great deals in there outlet for laptops, other then that I would just get a $500 special from best buy or something.
Are you in need of XP or would Vista work?

My wife has had an Acer Aspire something or other for 6 months now we got for $399 at Circuit City. We have had no problems with it since we put 2 gig of memory in it since it was trying to run vista on 512 meg. Before that it was painfully slow.
