OEM vs Boxed

Post by woodchip »

I was going to buy a OEM cpu until I read on another forum that some stores may cherry pick the OEM's before selling them. Is this possible? I plan to OC a bit so warranty would not be something to be concerned about (1 year OEM/3 year box)

I allways buy box cpus cause I don't need to worrie about finging a HS that will fit it and keep it cool and the 3yr warrent helps a lot.

A lot of people may disagree but the HS that comes with the cpu is the best I think unless u oc but all my AMDs iv never ran across a heat issue

Yes, possible. Intel delivers OEM CPUs in a tray, resellers need to come up w/ their own packaging and are thus handling the chips. I always buy boxed CPUs unless the price difference is astronomical or only OEM chips are being sold.

Thanks. Sounds like I'll pay the extra 20 box for the box set
