HD Spin Down

Post by Richard Cranium »

I'm tired of my data drive (1TB WD SATA) always spinning down but I don't see any settings to prevent this. Anyone have an idea how to stop this?

power options in control panel

I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.

Nope, doesn't work, I tried that. I still spins down after a few idle minutes and then when I go to access that drive again (usually right after the spin down) I have to wait for it to spin up and everything.

Odd. Did you check if WD has some sort of management program for the disk online ?

Also check Power Management settings in BIOS.
