An interesting question:
Brinksmanship or negotiated capitulation?
Granted, the actions of the previous administrations have pushed Russia in Putin's direction- in fact I feel that Putin's \"appointment\" to his position of power was Boris Yeltsin's parting shot to Clinton's Yugoslavian adventure (Bosnia/Serbia/Kosovo.) Expansion of NATO and positioning defensive missile batteries on the Russian frontier haven't helped.

I think most of the blatent Internet-media bias that can be found today is within the images that the major networks use. If you can grab it, look at the picture of Bush on www.cnn.com main page right now, his lips are puckered, his arms are spread out, and he is leaning forward a bit---looks like a Monkey. It doesn't matter to me that the headline is praising McCain, all I see is Monkey.
Imagine polling that same picture that TB posted, but swap the images with:
I bet you would get a completely different response.

I think the only photograph that sways Putin's thinking is his own.
He'll know flat out that McCain is a much more qualified opponent and much more likely to follow through on the tough choices if faced with having to make a sacrifice.
Stupid Press tricks work on the dumbasses who vote like robots and that's about all.

Yeltsin had no choice about appointing Putin. Sick to the edge of death, facing corruption charges and completely lacking a power base Yeltsin made the appointment to avoid prison. Kind of like Nixon and Ford.in fact I feel that Putin's \"appointment\" to his position of power was Boris Yeltsin's parting shot to Clinton's Yugoslavian adventure (Bosnia/Serbia/Kosovo.)

In all fairness to CNN, it's hard to take a flattering photograph of Bush. Compare how he looks now to how he looked just 8 years ago. He's probably aged at twice the rate of normal people.
Not saying they aren't deliberately choosing the goofiest photos, however.
By the time the job is over, the person behind the Presidency always looks like he's been through hell and back. Regardless of what I think about his politics, Bush certainly had his share of crises.
