Windows not recognizing mp3 player

I'm having a rather strange issue with my Sony NWZ-A816 Walkman - when I connect it to my computer via its USB cable, the player recognizes the connection and begins charging, but windows isnt allowing me to view the contents of the player
A few hours ago, when this first started happening, I wasn't able to even open up the Walkman with My Computer - it simply did not show up
I figured it might be due to an MTP issue as I had an older version of windows media player (I use winamp, but wmp gets itself involved with file associations)
I updated to wmp version 11, which allowed me to atlest view the Walkman entity in My Computer
Yet when I open it, none of the inner folders are shown (and no this isn't a folder-options issue, I've already double checked all of that)
I have NEVER had this issue before (same computer, same mp3 player)
Anyone have any idea what is going on?
*EDIT* Nevermind, problem solved, simple restart did the trick
