Winmain Access Violation - Can't Play D3 (Won't Run?)

Hi,
I'm hoping someone has run into this problem before and there is a simple fix for it!
I just installed Descent III. I ran the setup and my system seems to be configured properly and everything seems good in the setup.
The game loads and I see the Dolby intro video.. Right after that ends, the screen goes black and I get this error message:
\"Execution in WinMain() was stopped by an Access Violation
Call stack:
-------------
main.exe 0056a0ec()
kernel32.dll 75874911()
ntdll.dll 7716e4b6()
ntdll.dll 7716e489()
-------------\"
The game then crashes. I'm not sure why it won't run.
I am running it on:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit
GeForce Go 6150
AMD Turion Dual Core 2.0 Ghz
It wouldn't run at all in OpenGL so I went into setup, put it in Direct3D and at least got the Dolby intro video to play.
Any ideas? I'm lost! I tried to search the boards but couldn't find anything.
Thanks in advance for any help!
