Got Antivirus 2009?
I'm working on the friends Compaq Presario running XP that has \"Antivirus 2009\".
What's the latest on removing it?

I had it, no matter what I tried it didn't work. Ended up formatting C and starting over.

Why does the virus look better than the real antiviruses..

Tell your friend to press \"alt-F4\" next time instead of clicking on this and installing it. This virus is a funny one because people actually have to \"install\" it themselves.

Wrong, I got mine from installing Nero that I had downloaded and scanned. I nowhere saw the option to install or opt out of installing it.

My dad was hit with the same thing a while back. Google for a removal, its very doable. In my years of computing I never had to format C: for anything.

I don't know how you guys get these things. I've been running this pc for about 6 years now and never once have I gotten infected. What am I doing wrong?

Because your wiener is shriveled and you have no interest in porn.

Hey I take issue with that. My wiener is only shriveled part of the time

You still installed it
My point was, this usually pops up as a fake scan screen telling you you have such and such infections - a screen that also seems to have no close option, clicking anywhere will try to install it. Alt-F4 is the best way to close it.

Does everyone who gets this use IE? I've not seen a popup in several years.

Like I said, I got it from a NERO install. No where did it ask me to install it or pop up a window. It was hacked into the file. I use Firefox.

just outta curiosity, did you notify Nero, Merl?
I've had something similar happen in the past, though it's been a few years.

I used this to get rid of that.

Do a quick scan, when it asks you to reboot, do the reboot. Will be gone in like 5 minutes
