on another note...
Comcast announced recently in an email they have doubled my connection speed at no cost. How nice of them.

I have no complaints whatsoever with Comcast.
Besides the initial \"bundle discount\", my Comcast bill has stayed the same for over two years, while the bandwidth has just continued to increase.
I started out at something like 6Mbit down / 512Kbit up... the last time I checked, I'm now at something like 12Mbit down / 4Mbit up (and their \"PowerBoost\" thing bumps it up even higher during lower-usage times of day).

Free speed upgrades are probably the result of upgrades to the whole system. Most people are on DOCSIS 2.0 modems in the US, however a few areas have rolled out DOCSIS 3.0. IIRC 2.0 has something like a 30-50 Mbit maximum, while 3.0 has a 300 Mbit maximum so it is pretty common to give a speed boost to everyone when they upgrade the network.

If it was without hardline, then it wouldn't be DSL would it... It'd be wireless. dun dun dunnnnTesticulese wrote:Probably, Merl, being Comcast.
I will say, sometimes companies surprise you. Verizon upped my bandwidth to 5000/1000 right after they dropped my monthly rate by $5. I don't get it. (They're still bastards, because they refuse to offer DSL without the hardline.)

I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.
