The measly 80gb Hard drive in my laptop died which means I've got a great excuse to upgrade. The 80gb was plenty big for me (most of the time I have 15 to 35gb free as it was) but I want something bigger this time. I want a drive that have decent capacity, good performance, but is typically cool (compared to other drives), low watt draw, and is quiet.

I'm considering one of these:
Fujitsu MHZ2160BH-G2 160gb for $49.99

For $8 to $10 more ...
HITACHI Travelstar 5K320 250gb for $57.99 and a mail-in rebate can get it to $47.99
Fujitsu MHZ2250BH-G2 250gb for $59.99

and then at an additional $10 more ...
Seagate ST9320320AS 320gb for $69.99
Fujitsu MHZ2320BH-G2 320gb for $69.99

What do you guys think? And any suggestions? I gotta keep this unit fairly cool and while the 320gb of space is extremely tempting ... it is a LOT more space than I need for this unit.

stick with the 160 Gb, if you need more space grab an external or nas drive

I would actually go with the Seagate just for the sake of having a name brand- guaranteed to last. DEFINITELY DO NOT buy the Travelstar drive- they are known for problems galore- like the one I had that died after just 1 1/2 years (The computer repair store calls them \"DeathStar\" drives...). I don't know about the reliability of Fujitsu- I'd look up product reviews before buying one. I know it's not one of the options you had listed, but I have heard that Western Digital is the probably the best hard drive brand. Maxtor is also decent. As for Seagate- I know they are very good too. I replaced the Travelstar mentioned above that shipped with my laptop with a Seagate, and after 2 yrs of heavy usage (on about 10-12 hrs per day), the smart data shows very little wear. I can post the smart data if ur curious...
