Whaddaya think, folks? Could this work?
Some online poster wrote: After carefully reviewing the suggestions, and looking at the bail-out, seems that we would save a gob of money and create forty million happy faces at the same time, mine for sure! Absolute genious!

Included in an article from "The Advocate."

In our ongoing efforts to address our sagging economy, here’s an idea provided by Algie Petrere.

She says an article in the St. Petersburg, Fla., Times business section asked readers for their ideas on fixing the economy. Algie liked the one from a reader who proposed a plan to create instant millionaires.

........................................................

“There are about 40 million people over 50 in the workforce. Pay them $1 million apiece severance pay (with no taxes, etc. applied! bt), with these stipulations:

“1. They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings — unemployment fixed.

“2. They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered — auto industry fixed.

“3. They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage — housing crisis fixed.”

Who says economics is difficult?

.................................

That takes a lot less funds than the $1 trillion, plus!

$1,000,000 x 40,000,000 people = $40,000,000,000,000

$40 trillion :o

well, except that 40 million times $1,000,000 is 40 trillion dollars, not 40 million dollars.

but hey, a trillion here and a trillion there, and pretty soon, yer talkin' real money ....

Well the Fed could just as easily print that much money and loan it to us :P. Considering that every dollar we get from them has interest attached (instant debt) it's not like we will ever be able to pay it off anyways. I also like how misleading the name Federal Reserve is. It implies to the unlearned that their a part of the government, although, if someone doesn't have the gumption to educate themselves I guess they get what they deserve.

Also, \"reserve\" implies some kind of holdings. I suggest we rename the \"Federal Reserve\" to Kinkos. :D
