Scavenger Food
What's the strangest food combo or snack you've ever come up with when your bored and all you have to work with is whatever happens to be in the pantry or fridge and you haven't been to the store?
I used to make sugar sandwiches when I was little. The pantry was lean occasionally and I would poke around for something to eat, par for the coarse when you're a kid. Well, there was always white bread lying around, but no meats, PB@J or cheese. I finally came up with a slice of white bread, slather on a lot of butter, coat with lots of sugar and slap on another slice of bread. Wow, I can feel the energy still! My mother probably wondered why I was always hyper and the bread was disappearing!
Plain old buttered cooked spaghetti with some salt and pepper was another favorite, actually still is.
My mother-in-law used to slather mayo on white bread and top with lots of black olives. That one doesn't appeal to me though.

Cottage cheese for dipping Frito's Corn Chips. Maybe some Salsa on top.
Edit: My 10 yr old boy likes to put a thick layer of mayonaise on a slice of plain bread, grape jam (has to be grape) on another slice. Presto! Mayo/jam sandwich. He love 'em.
He gave me one and like a good father I humored him and sampled it. Tasted exactly like Miracle Whip with a little sugar added.

Ooooooooooooh! Some tasty sounding combos there. How about a baked potato, topped with broccoli and smothered with cheese sauce! Potato chips and peanut butter work good together too.
Octo, Ramen noodles can be mixed with just about anything! Instant food for college kids if they're creative! They're fun to fry up in hot peanut oil after you've boiled and drained them.
I had to watch out what I eat at my mother's house sometimes. She NEVER threw out dried goods and so packaged food was more than likely OLD in her pantry and that was before the days of open dating on packaging. One time while hunting for a snack, I grabbed a box of cereal, took out a handful and munched on some stale and sour grains that had a nice population of live grain bugs mixed in to boot! I should have looked first. I wouldn't recommend that one!
