My nearly 2 year old LG LCD monitor is acquiring a bad habit. When I powered it up in the morning for the last couple of days first the screen would come on all white, then when turned off and back on again the regular screen image came up. Today I had to turn it off and on about 4-5 times before getting beyond the white screen. Will I have to be shopping for a new monitor soon?? (won't be an LG based on the worthlessness of their online or phone support (closed on weekends)) Any suggestions for what is the problem?

Sounds like it might be on its way to a landfill near you.

You can try a different input (if it has one), otherwise I'd start saving up for a new one.

I also think you should save up for a new monitor. I recommend Samsung or Acer LCD monitors.

I'll 2nd Samsung. Have a 19 inch PC LCD and a 46 inch HD LCD TV from them and they rock.

Using a 22 inch HP w2207h now on my PC, got a good deal on 2 when Circuit City went under.

If you have the $$$ for it, try hunting down a good S-IPS type panel. They are hard to come across and more expensive than TN type panels, but they produce better color and viewing angles.

Otherwise there are some 120 Hz TN panels out there that will probably be the best for just straight up gaming and shouldn't cost as much as a S-IPS.

Incidentally, I have both a Samsung and an Acer panel here (running dual-monitor, asymmetrical but it is better than one anyway). The rest of my family has had issues with other Acer equipment, but this screen (must be around 3 years old by now, if not more) has kept going quite nicely.

The Samsung (a T260) is only a couple months old, but no complaints so far - very bright, good image quality, and so on. I don't think it can handle rapid transitions as well as other screens, but that hasn't been a problem for me (mainly looking for screen space, HDMI input, and a few other things).

Thanks all. Yeah, we have lots of Samsung at the workplace and they seem to hold up pretty well.
