Simple matcen issue

When I started editing my first level I noticed that the matcen didn't stop glowing bright after spawning robots for three times. Does this need to be scripted?
Which version of Descent? i.e. 1 or 2? regular, XL or XX?
For D1&D2 no.
For D3, yes AND no. There are ways to set up Metcens with basic triggers or you can use scripting for more specific actions.
