[resolved] D3 multiplayer with linux and wine

D3 single player works fine with linux and wine, but I can not get the multiplayer mode to work...

1/ When I launch a local multiplayer game (server), it freezes when I click the \"start game button\". Only the mouse cursor still works.
2/ When I try to connect from Vortex, it freezes (black screen) just after the \"connecting to server\" message.
3/ When I type manually an IP address of a server, it sometimes finds the running game(s). When I try to connect I get a message \"unable to download mission\", even if the corresponding mission is present on my computer (and working in single player mode).

looks like a network access problem ?

my configuration :
D3 v1.4, OpenSuse 11.0, KDE 3.5, tried with several versions of wine. Connected to the internet through a router.

anyone has an idea ?

no need for wine scroll down a bit it's easy

#2 is newbie server ops never admined their mission folder, you have to manually download missions on those newb servers

Thanks a lot !

It works great, but not for all missions. Is this linked to a checksum problem ?

I talked a little too fast.. I can connect to some servers (depending of the mission),but I get \"kicked for under minimum PPS\"

looks like I still have some networks problems ?

Those servers are enforcing a minimum packets/second setting. In D3 for Windows, just select \"T1/ADSL\" in the Network tab of the launcher.

[If you're using the D3 Linux (Loki) version, I think you have to add a \"ConnectionSpeed = Fast\" line to an .ini file. Someone here can probably give you the specifics.]

I am using the D3 Linux (Loki) version, but I can't find any .ini file anywhere...

Here's the old thread, the details should be in there. [Looks like a registry entry...]

If you're running into the Linux level-checksum-bug, there's a fix for it around here somewhere...

It's in the original thread I linked by Munk

http://www.jeffhendricks.net/d3fix-1.6.tgz.gz

can not install the .rpm : \"package linux-gate.so.1 is missing\"

so I basically opened the d3fix-1.6.tgz file. Since I do not really know what to do with it, I just copied the files contained in the archive on the corresponding directories on my disk. Does not seem to be the right method...
