It's not just that he votes against requiring photo ID's for citizens to vote or receive government subsidies but his response to the criticism displays a serious disconnect from reality...or an arrogance that is beyond insulting to the intelligence of anyone who pays attention to the issues...Oh....well, uh, that sort of explains why he thinks he can get away with this because too many of us don't pay enough attention!

\"It’s just a tad ironic that while Congressman Green forces his own constituents to produce photo ID simply to attend a town hall meeting, he doesn’t feel it necessary that people who receive government subsidies should do the same,” said Brad Dayspring, spokesman for House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.).

In a statement, Green said Cantor's criticism is misdirected.

“Services to illegal immigrants are already restricted and not in this health care legislation,\" Green said. \"We need health care reform, and we need to focus on creating the best policy for our country and giving our constituents access to their members. Congressman Cantor and his caucus should join us in our efforts to cover the 47 million uninsured instead of politicizing an issue that has already been dealt with to create panic.”

You see people, in order to come close to backing up the claim that 47 million people are uninsured YOU HAVE TO COUNT THE NON CITIZENS SUCKING AT THE GOVERNMENT TEET!!

So by all means come to America and live off the tax payers confiscated funds you don't need to prove you belong here or contributed to the tax revenue at all... and even vote for him in our elections, come from anywhere no ID required! But by god if one of us citizens wants to talk to him we better show him some ID pronto!

CMON will if the DNC passed legislation that required people that vote to prove that they are
actually who they say they are, or were qualified to recieve certain bebefits. 65% wouldnt be eligible and they would lose most of their voting base.

I agree with your point on hypocrisy, but this might not be such a bad idea…considering that groups like ACORN are now transporting people to town meetings.

Remember that it's not a 100% loss on the health care. Much of the reason some goods & services here can be cheaper is because of the cheaper labor we enjoy. So while we enjoy some items/services at lower prices than if a full citizen had done it, this is offset somewhat by the public services they use but don't contribute to.

Honestly, I think it's a lot more of a wash than you'd think...but without crunching the numbers its pure speculation.

If we get rid of these people, goods will have to become more expensive. But we'll 'save' on health care.

I'm interested in market efficiency. I want business to run. Business want these workers, I'd like them to be able to legally have these workers, whether they get permits or citizens or whatever, the reason these people are here are economic: they will work at a price others won't. It's mutually beneficial to both them and us economically if done right. We just need to smooth it out and make things legal.


Oh, and they need to stop naturalizing kids born here as step one, unless your parent is a US citizen your not one just because you are born here. I don't understand how this is not the case.

Step 2 is a work permit or citizenship decision for many of these people. Allow whoever's been here the longest to become a citizen, the rest can have a work permit for say 5 (or whatever) years before becoming a full citizen.

I'm totally on board for your immigration ideas, i think you laid out the case nicely. I was just using the contrast of the congressman's two faced position on voting to give illegal immigrants more access to the representatives than the bona fide citizens he was trying to avoid.

If there were ground rules for immediate dismissal from the job as a representative I would put this kind of hypocrisy at the top.
