I sorry but this isn't right. How long before the pop shots start happening. I already know that some here will blame those Evil Republicans. Seems like this might just put that Second Amendment to a the test of all test.

It's a bad idea, but I'll be pissed about them trying to legislate something about it on the national level.

So honest people carrying firearms are to be feared?

Well I see no need to fear the person with a gun or rifle. Why does he need it at a protest? NRA is standing up for the rights of firearms by stating they are for recreation and hunting. No need to hunt or have any recreation shooting at a protest this can only lead to trouble.

no but now you've escalated the debate, and maybe the next one that shows up with a gun wont be so honest. they have a complete right to carry those guns. the proper question is should they.

not to mention we made a big deal about the Panthers standing in front of a polling place carrying clubs, what if we were to let them start carrying guns??

The thugs that beat up that guy, already escalated the debate, but I would have carried concealed. (self defense) Carrying openly is an attempt to intimidate, and is not proper at a non violent protest.

I think the black panthers carrying clubs at the entrance of the polling place was effective intimidation toward white voters.
The gun nut carrying his AK outside the Presidents town hall meeting was a non-intimidation considering the President knows he had Secret Service snipers with that guys melon square in their sights the whole time he was marching around.

Still it was a bad idea if you are on the side of gun ownership, healthy race relations or positive public image of the good old USA! Imagine if some prankster had set off a firecracker in the vicinity! Someone queries \"gunshot?\" into their microphone, in the confusion someone else takes it as a statement instead of a question and all of a sudden Mr. AK-Fear Me has his brains splattered across the sidewalk!

I have no problem with CCW, but carrying it out in the open was just trying to prove how big his Johnson was

I believe Arizona has different laws regarding carrying a weapon. You can carry anything legal as long as it is visible. For example a holstered pistol must have at least part of the barrel showing below your jackets hem. Still the Johnson analogy is dead on target there.
You know somewhere there was a Klansman getting all moist in the panties when he saw that on the news. People like that don't need any encouragement.

NRA also states guns are for self protection. The firearms displayed at the Obama townhall can also be construed as a protests against Obama's socialist goals of having the federal govt. as sole protector of the masses.

Obama already made the mistake of exclaiming that he would be going for more gun controls. Gun toting demonstrators make it clear that the 2nd amendment is alive and well.

Why don't you try a real reply instead of a vapid "I don't have a clue so I'll just say something meaningless".

Well I didn't understand the meaning of all that you said...
Do you think the guy carried the gun there expecting a gang fight? He obviously was trying to make a statement of some kind. Do you agree with woodchips take on it or not? Even though you feel you said "an awful lot" with all three letters of your OMG you apparently didn't say enough for us common folk.

Bet, woody's right that \"OMG\" doesn't say much. Some people may know where you're coming from, but others won't.

Cuda, that was uncalled-for. You can disagree with someone and/or question their motives without taking shots at their intelligence.

Correct, and if you have a permit, you can even carry concealed weapons almost anywhere as well, even into a bar. (the only state that allows that).

what was this guy thinking.. taking a gun into a debate? what does he expect to happen?

I'm surpised he didn't get swarmed by the secret service.

He wasn't thinking because he, and those who support him, don't have a brain. But anyhow, he was limited to where he could go and I'm pretty sure... on some building... there was a secret service agent watching him through a crosshair. At least I hope so.

"In both cases, the subject was not entering our site or otherwise attempting to," Donovan said. "They were in a designated public viewing area. The main thing to know is that they would not have been allowed inside with a weapon."

Straight from the guys mouth:

\" The man also carried a hand gun on his hip and a round of ammunition in his back pocket, all completely legal.

He said he's fighting both health care and his right to carry a firearm in public.

\"I come from another state where open carry is legal, but no one does it, so police don't really know about it, and they harass people and arrest people falsely,\" he said. \"In America, people have the ability to fight back and resist.\"

http://www.abc15.com/content/news/phoen ... oq7xQ.cspx

So Bee your reply, \"He wasn't thinking because he, and those who support him, don't have a brain\", shows you to be a ignorant white girl racist as the gentleman in question is black. I guess all black men who stand up for themselves in your view are just \"uppity\". So Bee, how does it feel to fall in the racist trap?

Missouri Constitution
Article I
BILL OF RIGHTS
Section 23
That the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person and property, or when lawfully summoned in aid of the civil power, shall not be questioned; but this shall not justify the wearing of concealed weapons.

Section does not prohibit the General Assembly from enacting statutes allowing or disallowing the carrying of concealed weapons; the Concealed-Carry Act is therefore constitutional. Brooks v. State, 128 S.W.3d 844 (Mo.banc).
We could do that walk around with guns. Why? Do we distrust everyone that much that we have to arm ourselves every time we leave or house? I would say carrying a gun to a 2nd amendment protest fine but this was all about health care.

I've found there are a few boneheads in every gun shop I've been in that are very outspoken and passionate about politics but only on the second amendment issue. They don't even know if Hawaii is a state or not but they "know" the second amendment and they wouldn't pass up the chance to bring a legal assault rifle to the White House if they had the chance...even if it was for the Easter Egg Roll!

Except that Bee's response had nothing to do with race. She disapproves of assault rifles, whether they are carried by white, black, brown, yellow, red, purple, green or chartreuse skinned people.

I disagree with her in principle, but admit that it would have completely freaked me out to have seen a guy toting an ak47 at a protest rally.

You really are a sick individual Woodchip.

Please tell me how you managed to turn "He wasn't thinking because he, and those who support him, don't have a brain", into a race issue when I never even knew the color of the persons skin. I love and voted for Obama remember?

In this thread?

Because if you are saying that:
Bettina wrote:there was a secret service agent watching him through a crosshair. At least I hope so.
is accusing someone of racism, then I'll have to disagree. When a protester has a gun within range of the president, it seems obvious that the secret service will be watching him very closely, regardless of his race. The gun may be entirely legal, and the citizen may have no intention of harming the president, but being paranoid is the secret services job. AND, as professional paranoids, I don't see any reason they would limit assassination motivations to racism.

So how on earth could saying that the secret service should be watching a protester with a gun have anything to do with accusing someone of racism?

The quote used was:
Bettina wrote:"He wasn't thinking because he, and those who support him, don't have a brain"
And, again, what does this have to do with race? Bettina is opposed to assault weapons. Obviously "he, and those who support him", is in reference to those of us who approve of citizens owning assault weapons.

Bettina (Caucasian, I'm assuming) saying that I (A mixture of just about everything, but it comes out mostly Caucasian) , don't have a brain because I support citizens owning assault weapons, has NOTHING to do with race.

Really, I'm just not making any sense out of this, but I get confused easily. Perhaps you are referring to something that happened in another thread?

back on topic: Meh.
If they abuse their rights someone will take them away. They know this. Gun laws keep shrinking around gun advocates. And they shrink a bit more every few years.

So now its denial mode.

“There is no doubt in my mind that all you're hate filled rants about Obama have racist undertones. None whatsoever. It's not that you don't like Obama, you literally hate him. You hide it poorly.”
