Whatever you do! Don't update FRAPS!

Post by NUMBERZero »

Don't do it! It is even more laggy! I used to have it at Half size, 45 FPS, now I have to roll with half size, 35 FPS!

Don't do it! Save yourselves!

But tips on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated on how to at least bump me back up to 45 FPS.

recordmydesktop records for me with very little FPS hit, at full resolution. I think I only record at 10 FPS, though.

It's hard-drive intensive, though, because it saves raw video, and doesn't compress until you're done recording.

I'm also in a situation where I've got lots of spare CPU cycles, and the limiting factor on my framerate is my video card.

Oh, and it's linux-native.

I just use the plain-old, un-updated version of fraps, and it works fine. (Although, I have heard rumors that Fraps steals passwords, but I've never experienced it)
Amg! It's on every post and it WON'T GO AWAY!!

You need to pass it the option to capture a full frame each time for videos game recording. It tries to save on space/work by detecting where activity is happening, and only recording that... which doesn't work so well in video games. It has a command-line option to make it capture a full frame each time.

It also has to be paused/restarted/stopped via term signals. Hopefully I'll remember tonight, and I'll create a tech forum post with the shell script that I use to invoke it.
