Backpack preference.

Recently for work I've been using a laptop bag to carry my stuff around. But I'm worried this wont work for school. (I'm registered for the spring.)
Another option I like is buying a sling bag. In the past I've always used regular double strap backpacks. The sling bag caught my eye because fewer straps might be better to deal with.

What do you use?

I let my girlfriend carry my stuff.

Don't think too hard about it, just get a regular old backpack.

I just figured out I can fit four text books in my laptop bag. And with a strap so it's not too heavy for my weakling arms.

Good point.
Well I'm going to try and find something for 20 bucks that's double seamed. A regular bag.

I would recommend Jansport backpacks because of their ruggedness.

Thanks. That has good information. But their catagories seem to be for really heavy loads and long walks.
"Travel Packs" description sounded close to my laptop bag, but much thicker.
The "Daypacks" category is close to what I would use.

They are correct about getting something that can take abuse. Looking back I never had a school bag last more than a year. But I always had an Eastpack and they aren't made very well.

Thanks!

unless you are taking a pretty light academic class, on a fairly small campus, your textbooks can easily match or double the weight of your laptop, and you need to lug it around a fair distance.

you should read on how to pack your backpack as well.

I can verify that from experience. During college, I used to carry my pack around on one shoulder (seemed comfortable and easy to pick up / set down), but by the time my junior and senior undergrad years rolled around, I started getting some serious back pain from it. Fliptw is right, don't do the one-shoulder bags.

I agree. And I think I was underestimating the weight I'll be carrying. Maybe academy will have something strong but comfortable.
