New browser by Comodo, so I figured I'd share this.

They put out a lot of great free products. Comodo's firewall for one. Makes me curious how well this project will turn out.

But I have my doubts about this one.

Sorry, not gonna register on that site to see what you are linking to. I'd rather trust browsers that don't need my personal info to use.

Browsing the other software they offer I don't think I trust them.
From their wifi security software faq:
I have a Wi-Fi at home with WEP turned on. Am I safe?
No. Cyber criminals can break WEP encryption with easy-to-acquire tools that are available on the Internet. For complete protection from cyber criminals, check out Internet Security Pro.
They conveniently leave out WPA/WPA2 which are not crackable (at least to the point its too much trouble than it's worth). A company that blatantly lies is not one I trust at all, specially for computer security.

I think you're being a little harsh on them.

EDIT: I had more to say, but I've retracted that.

Their new browser product must still be in development, because they haven't listed it on their "Products" page ... registering before downloading it makes perfect sense when the product is still in development.

Here's a direct download to their browser. But I believe this is the Alpha version.

I guess you haven't seen Comodo's anti virus yet.:P I don't trust the anti virus they offer. But the firewall with the Defense+ feature is pretty strong against attacks. But every company has its high and low points.

You may be right. Just some of that software they have there seems like a gimmick to take advantage of the non-technical.

So what does this browser offer that is better than firefox/chrome?

Like Symantec(Norton) or McAfee are honest...

Realtime memory resident anti-virus scanners are so full of holes the whole concept is borderline useless. And by the time a software firewall should block something, the computer is already infected and the software firewall will likely be bypassed like it isn't there at all. Internet security suites are among the worst and most deceptive software that is still legal to make. The false sense of security they give their users is more dangerous than the vast majority of the stuff out there on the internet.

This new browser might prove to be a bit of security by obscurity, but at the same time being based off of google chrome means that exploits targeted at chrome could also hit this browser, which isn't exactly the greatest starting point. We would be better served if they would help contribute to improving the security of chrome than to throwing yet another browser on the market.

I won’t argue the fact that security suites do have there limitations. Which is why its recommend to run a HIPS program a long side an anti virus and firewall. DefenceWall Hips is one exception, expect it’s not free and it does not support a 64 OS. Comodo Defense+ HIPS feature on the other hand is free and it is the backbone of Comodos firewall. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for its anti virus. In my opinion, it blows. I tested Defense+ personally and I have found it to be very effect when it comes too safely. But it’s only effective as the person using it.
