I'm trying to find a detailed graph that shows the number of working people against the average amount they make. I know it's a bow with ~$8000 (monthly income) at the top, but I would like to see all groups and how large the population is for each.
What I want it for:
I'm playing with my own version of a socialized healthcare bill and would like to know how to divide the cost between all Americans.
The average number for total annual healthcare is about 2.2 trillion (Just a figure to work with).
With about 146,743,000 people working in the usa that divides the monthly cost to $12,493.50.
If I were to slide the $12K around between the wealthy and away from the poor (not completely) I think socialized health insurance would be affordable. However, I need the graph to be sure.
edit:
My main goal is to find a single percentage to charge everyone and still have it be affordable for the poor.
edit edit:
I don't see a real point in saving the poor if all it does is produce more poor people. We need a way to have education be more available so the average income goes up. Maybe have socialized college education, where food and dorm are also included?
Do you have this graph? population vs income
Can't comment too much on this at the present time, but one of the problems with fully subsidised tertiary education is that people don't necessarily value it as much as they could. Giving people the means to afford a good education is all well and good, but it's better to do so without having the more irresponsible sort party away for three or so years and leave the taxpayer to pick up the bill.

I got one from 2007... You'd think there was a newer version out there.
