I got this error twice:

Error: \"Your pilot file is too old. Delete and create a new one\"

If i delete the .plt file, i have to start d3 from mission 1, which is a drag to say the least. Anyone know how to fix this?

Is the pilot file editable? I'd try either opening up the .plt file in notepad, look for a \"created\" date, and modify it to yesterday.

If that isn't possible, try updating the \"created\" date on the .plt file... there are programs out there that will do it. If only windows had \"touch\" you wouldn't have to download anything.

Why would it matter how old it is anyway? What's the point?

From a practical standpoint, it probably shouldn't. From the internal workings of the code/etc, there's probably some reason. It might even be something unintentional that's basically a bug.

Could he be trying to use a 1.4 pilot in a 1.0 or 1.3 patched game?

Yeah, most likely \"too old\" means a version mismatch.

the .plt is not editable from notepad, or anything else i can see. However - what app is around which might change the \"created\" date, and what would i change that to?

The age of the file is the date and time i last played d3

Cant be a version mismatch - i am playing the original unpatched game.

Hmm.....maybe patch it and see if it works. Why run an unpatched game? Trying to take advantage of a bug?

did you ,per chance, play the demo and just transport the pilot from that to the version you're playing?

I'm with Krom. This sounds more like a version mismatch than a file \"timing out\". d3 doesn't use anything like that.

Patch to the latest version, problem solved.
