Fast tract Windows updates

Post by thewolfe »

I just re-installed Win XP and am now one by one updating from SP1 to whatever to SP2....and so on.

Is there a way to bypass a few steps?

The ONLY way to bypass a few steps ... is go right up installing SP3 (skip the others if it will let you) ... then install Internet Explorer 8 (skip 6 updates, skip 7 altogether).

That will get you a LOT closer to fully up to date because these items roll most of those updates in them.

Slip streaming the service packs is the only way to go.

However, that would be in \"Advanced Windows Installation\" 101.

What TechPro said also do yourself a favour and burn a slipstreamed XP-SP3 disc for yourself like the others suggested.

I've done that and it saves you heaps of time on reinstalls
