Intel vs AMD, again

Post by snoopy »

So, I know it's an age-old argument... but I'm not totally up-to-date with the latest on the comparison. What's the latest on the pros and cons of each?

AMD should work better with ATI video cards.
AMD doesn't have answer yet for Intels I series AFAIK.

I've always been partial to Intel. I believe they've always had the upper hand.

The main question would be what you indent to do with the pc at the end of the day.

Normal Desktop/office AMD = Budget
Gaming = i5 and above no questions asked to my knowledge at this time.

Ever since the i series AMD have been playing catchup with intel with no true answer besides a decently priced midrange performer but nothing for the high end segment. I also believe its got something to do with the new memory controller in the i series, correct me if I'm wrong also a bit rusty on the new tech

AMD is chronically behind Intel when it comes to manufacturing process, thus they can only compete on the low end / budget segment. Intel owns the performance market currently.

I built a system for my wife a couple months ago.
What I was able to do for a couple hundred bucks
(MB, RAM & CPU)using an AMD part was impressive.

A month later I built my i7 @ near 4GHz... let's
just say I wet myself a little :)
