Old vs. New Video Card

Well I just had to replace my fried GeForce4 Ti 4600, that I paid 330.00 bucks for, with a 30.00 dollar GeForce FX 5200.

Both have 128MB DDR

So, I was just curious, how do those cards compare speed-wise.

(not an issue because the machine is just a juke box now)

The FX 5200 is pretty ancient as well, I'm pretty sure its slower than the Ti 4600.

x2. +$10 would have gotten you something more powerfull.

Or for a little more you could get a GF 9800 series

This is a wide range of prices at that link and unfiltered. if you want to splurge a bit the 9800 GTX+ is your best bet for performance. Granted, there is no Dx10 or Dx11 support for that model, but I don't think that's a concern?

anyways, just my 2 bits. :)

Thanks Krom, I was really just curious.

I bought the cheapest card I could find, the thing sits with WMP full screen all day long…

I tried to put my very first video card in it, but it wouldn’t boot. (Intel S3 PCI)
