I have a pool I just bought and want to figure out how many gallons of water I have in it. I know the formula to find the volume is
Volume=πr²h
The pool is 16 by 3.5 feet which gives me
π*8²*3.5=703.8
A gallon of water is 0.13 cubic feet so I should have 5413.8461538461538461538461538462 gallons of water right or am I doing the math wrong?

Your pool is a cylinder shape? (Volume calculations obviously change depending on the shape of the object in question)
If so then yes:
3.142(π) * 8(r) * 8(r) * 3.5(h) / 0.13(CuFt/gal) = 5413

Yes it is cylindrical. Thanks been a long time since I did any math.

Same here.
I make no promises but the formula for volume of a cylinder is a hard one to forget since it starts with the area of a circle.

If your pool is like mine then you have to keep in mind that the water is not all the way to the top. Use a measure to get about 6-8 measurements of the depth of the water to arrive at an average depth which you would then use to calculate the actual volume of water in the pool.
