goodbye laptop, hello desktop.

Well it took a few nights of frustration and thinking and i finally came to the conclusion that having this laptop as my main PC just isn't cutting it anymore. it's a nice laptop and all, but since i moved back to ohio i recently became a first time home owner and planning to reside here for a few years. i am now in the market for a desktop PC that i can purchase within a couple days. i just don't know where to start.
what i'm looking for is a high end gaming PC that will hook up nicely to my 40\" sony bravia 1080p lcd tv. so no monitor needed. should cut the price a little bit. i know i want the best current cpu, and video card (i hear ati is the way to go now?), and at least 12GB's of ram. the navy kind of dumbed me down a bit the past few years so im a little ignorant about new hardware.
first i looked at some alienwares. bad reviews. then some dells, and a falcon northwest. i also have ran into some smaller gaming computer companies around the net like ibuypower.com pc's, but i don't know if i can trust them with an online purchase.
if anyone can help me with any information or a list on some good vendors with very fast PC's i would really appreciate it. it would help if you have had experience with such vendors. I really don't want to buy parts locally and build my own because honestly me and my fiance don't have the patience for that. we want it here and working. something with some flashy lights in the vents would be cool. and something will make crysis look and run gooood.
i have $3000 to spend. monitor is not needed as it's going to be on my 40\" sony. ill post pics of the setup when im done.
thanks again.
