Won't the one who gave the documents to them be the one who committed treason. Seeing how The Guardian, The New York Times and Der Spiegel along with Wikileaks have the documents I would say freedom of the press and all four received stolen property. Anyways it will be all Bush's fault so who is really going to care?

I see it hard to head towards Treason. first this is international (WWW) second treason against who us?? GB?? Pakistan?? there are classified documents concerning at least those 3 countries.
I'm leaning more towards Receiving stolen property. they have obviously received documents that were not for general consumption since most were classified. and since Wiki is just a blog and is not an acredited news agency like the others you mentioned I cannot see this being a freedom of the press issue.
Anyways it will be all Bush's fault

It does depend on where the documents came from in the first place for treason for sure. The act of treason includes disloyalty, if a member of our government or citizen handed over the classified documents to anyone doesn't matter if it's a news agency or a blogger it could be considered an act of treason. More than likely though it maybe treated more like an act of sedition. Where an action or speech which may incite disloyalty, hatred and or treason. Some people think that anti-war protesters are committing an act treason. How about the act of reshaping America by the party in power now, some may consider that an act of treason. I'm sure some here maybe thinking that the total disregard of the Constitution by those in power is an act of treason.

The Obama administration on Monday called the release of thousands of classified documents on the Afghanistan war a \"breach of federal law,\" as a prominent senator said the government needs to press charges in the case.
well hopefully this isnt just posturing on the part of the Administration.
next question, how do they proceed and convict??

So all this was against the law? How is this different than the leaks during the Bush years?

Seems it got report the way they wanted it to be reported.
- He pressed the Talking Points given to him and added a few of his own that followed in line with our current story
- The atmospherics of the local populous is that they are in shock, but understand it was caused ultimately by the presence of hoodlums
- the people think it is good that bad men were killed
- the people regret the loss of life among the children

Well, because it's a media spin about a leak and she's spinning a leek.
Sorry, grownups. I'll leave you alone now.

almost all of the information \"leaked\" (that the media is covering, the \"horror of war\" stuff) is freely available in newspaper reports.
i wouldn't call this treason, because treason is defined very specifically:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treason#United_States
i would call it freedom of the press, transparency, and a really poorly-thought-out idea (this particular leak, not freedom of the press in general).

So!!!! I wonder how this anti war activist will feel after the Afghani informants that were on those Military documents that he released start dying???
Hundreds of Afghan lives have been put at risk by the leaking of 90,000 intelligence documents to WikiLeaks because the files identify informants working with NATO forces.

Assange is smarter than he looks, he knows exactly what he's doing. That's why I think this was such an irresponsible thing for him to do. This leak and the helicopter gunner video from 2007 are really impacting his credibility.
This is a guy I usually like, but not in these cases. I know in the case of the helicopter video, it was edited in a way that it didn't need to be. If he released the full copy, he would have gotten the same horrified reaction, but without the \"it'd been edited, it's crap!\" backlash. Such a poor decision, but he had to take the risk to make it look \"worse\" (even though it didn't end up looking worse, in my opinion.)
