Build the Mosque but don't rebuild the church.

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church crushed by the south tower on 9/11 is having a problems getting rebuilt. Seems the Port Authority has killed the deal with the church to relocate the church 100 yards from it's last location.
Decision Not to Rebuild Church Destroyed on 9/11 Surprises Greek Orthodox Leaders

The Cordoba Center is not funded by the port authority.
This article indicates that the deal was called off because the representatives of the church wanted the port authority to provide more than the deal originally specified.
article wrote:"St. Nicholas Orthodox Church has always had and will continue to have the right to rebuild on its original location. The question was whether public money would be spent to build a much larger church at a separate location on the site and ensuring that construction wouldn't delay the World Trade Center further," spokesman Stephen Sigmund said in a written statement. "On that question, we worked for many years to reach an agreement and offered up to 60 million dollars of public money to build that much larger new church. After reaching what we believed was an agreement in 2008, representatives of the church wanted even more public commitments, including unacceptable approvals on the design of the Vehicle Security Center that threatened to further delay the construction on the World Trade Center and the potential for another $20 million of public funds."
This is an issue between the Greek Orthodox Church and the New Jersey and New York Port Authority,
not an issue between the Cordoba Center and New York City zoning law and/or public outrage.

archdiocese officials disputed the Port Authority's claims, saying the church has complied with all conditions.

Wow, I just can’t see how funding can be an issue as far as rebuilding “anything” on the 911 site. Call it a disaster site, and make federal money available. Hell we spend more money in one day on frivolous things.
Or the government could start a fund, and ask people to contribute part of their tax money…
Or have a raffle…lottery…
There are a million ways…

Unless it concerns the Isrealis or Muslims, it is just not worth dealing with because they are not the chosen one's.

This whole "mosque" story in the news is just lame... there are so many americans who think that the so-called war on terrorism is a war on Islam even after their king George W. Bush told them it isn't after someone threw a brick into a mosque.
lol that's rich... start a fundraiser so the middle class will have to fork out cash while the richest people give little or nothing. This always happens, might as well do it one more time :P

Israelis aside,
THE GROUND ZERO MOSQUE IS NOT GOVERNMENT FUNDED.
Now, if you're suggesting we stop giving the Israelis a defense grant in every budget cycle, and put that money to better use at home... excellent idea.

Not even close, it was about who does get attention and who does not.
But since you mentioned it - we should give the Israelis what-ever they need to wipe the radical factions out.

So you admit it's a Mosque now eh null.
America spends about 1% on all foreign aid. America has slowly been reducing the amount of direct aid given to Israel since 1996 in order to reduce Israeli Financial dependence on the US.
So why exactly do you want to leave Israel out in the cold? Do you have a problem with the Jewish people? Do you think they don't have the right to exist in their own country? What's up?

So wait... you want to continue feeding Israel billions of dollars each year that could be spent on government programs at home to promote job growth and stabilize the economy? Or used on the national debt?

We need to stop the government programs period. All of those programs should be run by the state and through donations, not tax money. The Federal Government was setup to handle foreign diplomacy and INTRA-state commerce only.

Perhaps if you followed the news, The Imam in charge has already stated he will go to the Saudis, Egypt to and even Iran to get funds to build. Want to bet it will be those govts. that kick in donation money?

Since they already have nuclear warheads, they don't qualify for any kind of aid.

wow, that's one big loaded question.

Are Saudi Arabia and Egypt and Iran the same country as the United States?

no, even when the Ottoman empire was in existance Iran was known as Persia. So no they are not the same aside from being of the same faith.

Actually, they are only of the same faith in the way that Spain and England are of the same faith.

They took their position so you would post on a descent message board. If these people want to pay for it, build it. I believe Islam as much as I believe Christianity, hehe. And I feel bad that google points out to me that I should capitalize your religions name.
You don't do a thing. You post on message boards and post on newspapers user comments. You do nothing.
Hey look! The story is about cabbage! And somehow it turns into dim darn dems. You people are fucked up in the head.

thats because they are nouns. grade english school 101
What is a Noun?
A noun is a word used to name a person, animal, place, thing, and abstract idea. Nouns are usually the first words which small children learn.
