speedfan?

needs to have a OSD, which speedfan does not. Riva is working sooo far, but it wont show me the GPU Usage % or the CPU Temp.

sorry i forgot to add that detail

Conky. It'll monitor everything including your kitchen sink for you. Except my CPU, but that's not conky's fault.

(srsly, it looks like Samurize is pretty close to a windows conky port.)

You might look into Sandra from SiSoftware. It has a LOT of features and you can setup your own reports and monitoring, though you may want to up to the paid versions to get more features/abilities.

Try PCWizard..
http://www.cpuid.com

It keeps track of CPU/GPU Temps, Loads, and Fan Speeds.

This is a shot of conky:

The stuff on the right.... is that what you're looking for?

Some shots of Samurize: Screenshots

It's got lots of flexibility, so you will need to do a bit of work to get it looking/acting like you want it to; but once you're done it'll probably be doing exactly what you want it to.

looks like its going to have to be RivaTuner..... PCWizard says my Video card is right now 230C !??!!?

In PC Wizard, go into preferences and force it to detect fans and report the temps in F, instead of C.

That seems to fix it.

you'd to deliberately set out to spend that much on a new rig. you can get a resonable upgrade for around 500

Lets not forget that Ace wants a dual video card setup. ;)

...and his girlfriend's CC.

Unless there is something deficient with power supply, then he just needs a motherboard, video card, CPU and ram.

that wish list of his is 90% overkill anyways.

to wit:

A i5-750 200
ASUS P7P55 110
EVGA GTX 460 1gb 230
2x2GB OCZ DDR133 90

~ 630

if you went with an Phenom II x6... same price.

going dual core would shave a chunk of the price.

ok, dropped the PSU, changed the board to a single PCIE model, chopped $200 off the price...

another chop.... switched over to a i5 lynnfield, took one HDD off, down to 1000

You don't need to replace everything.

you also don't need to buy cables that come with the motherboard.

you really shouldn't be splurging here. Expensive motherboards are just that: expensive. You are not going to get any extra value or life out of a 250+ MB compared to a 120 one.

okay ill drop the cables...
