I'm in a hotel room that offers \"wired\" internet service.
I'm trying Connectify on my Win7 machine.
I'm trying to use it with my itouch.
My touch sees the wifi but has an ip address of 169.........
My computer sees the touch on Connectivity. Should this work?

any ip address that starts with 169 is an internal ip address that was probably assigned to it via the dhcp server of the hotel's wireless service. It is not your external ip address.

Actually an IP 169.254.xxx.xxx is assigned by APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing) This assignment means that TCP/IP is configured for automatic configuration, that no DHCP server has been found, and that there is no alternative configuration specified. This configuration has no default gateway for the interface to allow a connection to the internet.

Who are you asking? If it's me, I use my touch all the time at home on my network.
Also I shut off my firewall and I got a good connection.
Can I make an \"exception\" so I can turn on the firewall?

I found settings under \"Connecting Security Rules. Added the ip address for the touch and turned on the firewall. Seems to be working and since I'm not keen on security stuff, I'm assuming I'm protected.
Well thought the above was working . Got a valid ip address on my touch but still not getting through with the exception.
Must not have done something correct but out of my expertise.
