I've just installed Deus Ex 1 the other day on my Windows 7 laptop and this morning and yesterday morning at 8am the game music starts playing and an error message pops up. The game was not running prior in either instance. I would have a screencap of the error message but I was asleep at the time, so all I wanted to do was kill it and return to bed.

I've checked for spyware/malware and viruses with no dice. Does anyone have any clue why this might be happening?

Classic game.

I seem to recall that happening to me once, when I left the game cd in the drive. I don't recall the details, but I think it was particular to the game & leaving the CD in the drive. Maybe the autostart ini for the cd has a refresh time to it? Anyways, try taking the CD out of the drive, and see if it keeps happening.

Could be it. I'll do that tonight. If that is the case I really have to wonder... why 8am? Why not 10? 10 would be great. :|

This sounds scary, like that movie where the TV turns on and that girl comes out. Unplug your computer and see if it the same error occurs.
