Titanic Screwup?

Now it comes out, from the granddaughter of Second Officer Lightoller (the only officer that survived the sinking), that the Titanic may have been sunk by a standards and practice change in helm procedure that panicked the helmsman and the impatience of the chairman of the White Star Line, Bruce Ismay, to get to New York on time.

After reading more about it, I'm wondering if this is just a ploy to sell her book. I know it would be far fetched that someone would try to change history just for the sake of making a buck, but when it comes to money, people will do anything.

Actually it was suspected to be the case immediately after the sinking that the iceberg was steered into instead of away from.
