Any word on a forum upgrade?

I don't visit here as often as I used to anymore, and it's a real pain in the ass to have to read every single new post in one sitting if I don't want it to be marked as read. Obviously, most modern forum software implementations only mark threads as such when you actually read them, which makes it much easier to keep track of what you've read. I know we're kind of stuck on an ancient version of phpBB at the moment, but have the powers that be looked into what an upgrade would entail?

anything to speed things up and get rid of glitches would be fabulous.
But pls don't just delete all of the archives like last time - i lost a lot of history :C

I'd like to be able to be notified of any replies (NOT by e-mail) if anyone replies to me (hits the quote button) or at least if he replies to something I posted in.
