When do people usually play on Vortex? Everytime I've logged in there are only about 5 people in a ASCENT game and that's it. So I go into another level and wait but no on joins. This is about 6-8pm EST.

The games I usually join don't start until at least 11PM Eastern.

Yea it always seems like most Descenders play at nighttime.

BTW, those five players in Ascent are always bots. Unless some humans
joined the game.

Always bots, well that sucks. But I guess I could try them out for size.

The other thing if there's no one else on the trackers, is knowing which games will attract other players. From my experience (times here in North America):

Morning: Try the German servers, specifically Ascent. Those games start picking up around that time.

Afternoon/early evening: Try the secondary-heavy levels (Abend 2, Subway, etc.). Folks there are more interested in wacky fun than hard competition, but it's not hard to get a game started.

Late night: Try the CTF games, specifically Veins. Or try starting a game in a tight primary-heavy level like Vamped or BI3. The late-night games are usually heavy competition, although it takes more work to get one going (e.g. jump on IRC or in a voice server).

There comes the issue. For me it will always be M-F 6-8pm ish. Weekends it could be during the day. The other issue I have, is I'm tired of all the same levels, that's why I stopped playing so long ago. I will join a Kata game or a Pyroglyphic, or some level not normally used.

We've been having some great games the past few months from anywhere 4-6 EDT, then usually I break for dinner, then sometimes from 8-10 PM on random weeknights. Usually someone like Fiend, Kickass, or myself sits in a server for a few minutes to start up the fun.

Work has had me away for the last couple weeks but I'll be back soon.

Edit: good lord posting on this site is slow.
