Can you guys spell out to me all the changes in the ideological orientation of USA's political parties?

ie: when were the Republicans Liberal, and the Democrats Conservative? From what i've been hearing, it's switched around a number of times throughout your country's history.

thanks.

What you don't have the internet to look up the information there in Brisbane? People party jump all the time. When they look like they are going to lose an election they change parties or when they want to have more power they change parties. Case in point Arlen Specter. Went from Republican to Democrat.

There is no easy answer to your question. To understand the US you must understand how the parties came about. The US was never just Republicans and Democrats and still isn't they are just the 2 major parties empowered in the US by us. I think they are one and the same at times and just keeps the populous at odds with each other to continue their power.
