That my be, but Bellsloth is such a poorly run company from a customer service perspective, I am never going to give them another dime of my money.
I don't care if they developed a technology that would reliably give speeds of terabytes/second. I wouldn't give them a dime for it.

Comcast cable Internet is purdy.
I get speeds around that. I'm sure faster connections exist, but I'm more than happy with Comcast.

Comcast has crappy tech support here in ATL, they couldnt even tell me what a NAT Router does. much less how many people can populate a Cable node at a single time. BS has stupid techs too, but at least i can figure out my problems with BS on my own. Comcast TV is the suxor, only channel i watch is SciFi.

man thats some shitty DSL 3mb down 384up here i can get 3mb down 1.5mb up for about 130

$130/mo for 3 down / 1.5 up? Jesus Christ, how the hell can anyone afford that?
And I'm not going to boast about my $45/mo uncapped (typically 6 down 1 up) cable.

I'm quite happy with my 90-95K download speed after being on dial-up since 97.

That's only because you haven't experienced the wonders of cable yourself.

That's because you aren't running PPP or PPPoE, so you don't have to "connect" to the internet like you do on dialup and most DSL connections. If you're worried, then shut down your computer at night, and get a router.
I've got several computers that are always running and have never had anything go wrong that I didn't cause.
Cable prices are so much better than DSL prices, at least around here. I get 3000/384 for $45/mo, when to get something similar through SBC, it'd be $150/mo. (Plus I'd have to completely rewire the house, since we can't even use dialup since our telephone lines are horrible.)
And with SBC, I have to deal with morons who have been proven to: (1) have high prices and try to give "special" deals that are only less high (but still too high), (2) can't reproduce a simple telephone line issue that the customer can reproduce himself in about 5-10 seconds, and (3) don't even have a clue who their customers are (a girl came by talking to SBC customers letting them know that there's a new "special" price since everyone complained about high bills -- we're with AT&T, not SBC, and pay a
lot less than SBC's "special" price).

Exactly why fewer people would be getting hacked, if they're not always connected. I haven't ever used PPPoE, though, so I'm not sure of timeouts or anything like that, or if many people would be disconnecting themselves when they're "done".
By "you", I didn't mean you, I meant it in the philosophical sense. I should've put "one" instead, but I don't talk like that, and it sounds all stuffy.

I'm using Bellsouth DSL, I go to their site to see if I can upgrade to Extreme DSL...
I click it, it says you already have DSL so you need to go to "Manage My Account"
So I click that, and all it tells me is yes, I have DSL. yay, thank-you for clarifying, Bellsouth.
