Flash drive not working

Friend has a flash drive that worked this morning on his Vista (I know) machine that is now not being recognized. He has other flash drives that do work in the other ports.
Also restarted the computer.
Would deleting the drivers in Device mgr be an option to try?
He's leaving town in a couple of days and needs the computer so is there any concern about messing with the drivers?

Only because it wasn't clear to me, by flash drive do you mean USB flash drive or a solid state drive?

Sorry, USB flash drive.

Try the same drive in a different computer. If it doesn't work there, most likely it is toast.

He was headed to the library so I'll post back when I hear.
Any validity to the driver question?

Nope, driver is largely irrelevant (just plugging it into a different port triggers a driver reinstall).

Just heard from my friend and it worked with the library computers.

It's working again in his home computer, so he backed it up and that's that.
Thanks for the posts.

If it doesn't show up again, check disk management in compmgmt.msc to see if it shows up there. May be a case of windows not assigning it a drive letter, for some odd reason.
