Okay. They were arrested for "theft and violent assault." The situation seems to have been handled.

Except for the part where they say:
This report was forbidden to air in order not to "hurt" the Muslims feelings....
I think the situation is much worse than just a theft and violent assault if reports of theft and violent assault, when perpetrated by Muslims, are not allowed to be aired!!

My take on these is, "What the heck were these people thinking?"

A. To interviewer: In an era of tension in France, you go uninvited to an Islamic school and start questioning students through the gates? ...Really?

B. To school: In an era of tension in France, you physically attack media outside your school and steal their camera? ...Really?

C. To media outlet: You have a potentially *huge* story, full of controversy, and you censor it? ...Really?

Before we get too high-and-mighty:

I'm sure that there are "Christians" out there who live on some compound and would react in an equally hot-headed manner to provocation.

I have to admit that the thought of "what are they doing in there that they are so interested in hiding" popped into my head. Is that enough to merit a warrant to make sure there aren't any bombs or the such being built in there? Probably not. If I were to French feds would I be keeping a close eye on whats going in and out of that place? Yes.

Surely our media wouldn't consider a news crew with camera as provocative. And just try to tell any media outlet to silence a story if any Christian group came out of their compound to beat the crap out of a camera crew!

I can imagine the excuses that would be made if you tried to run this story by liberals but just change the group to a bunch of Christians and those same liberals would be saying 'Look at the crazy religious rightwing moonbats!'

Blaming the camera crew for going to the street outside the compound is like blaming the rape victim for her choice of dress on the night she was attacked!

If this story was silenced there is either some real fear of Muslim reprisal or an outrageous attempt to protect them from scrutiny going on. Either way it is bad news for us.

I see their reaction as being highly protective. They went too far in attacking and stealing the camera (clearly a very peaceful religion ;)), but I don't blame them for being upset if they saw it as someone trying to paint them in a negative light or somehow spy on them for nefarious reasons. I don't know anything about the situation, but it makes me suspect that the social/political climate over there is difficult for them.

Of course its possible that they have something to hide, as would be evidenced by "what have you told them?", but that's not what I'm seeing.

Title of this thread is very misleading. A Koranic school is not a sunday school nor is an Imam a pastor.

I think that's the point. TB and others like to make comments like "Presbyterian extremists kill a bunch of people" and then link to a story where, of course, it's not Presbyterians. I think the point is to draw attention to the fact that certain people go out of their way to avoid mentioning the religion of Islamic extremists.

And heard outside of "Holy Islamville" in our own country:

A news story about "Islamville"
