Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
If you want it in higher resolution just ask, It's an simple process to make it larger/different aspect ratio)

A word of advise. If the the images were married in Photoshop (or something similar) feather your edges by 3 or 4 px.
Nice model.

very nice picture.
two niggles:
- what duper said
- can you put a pilot in there? otherwise it looks like a pyro on autopilot towards self destruction

LOL Issac. So true.
Maybe he/she already jumped out? er.. through a side panel ... under the ship?
ok ok..I'll stop.
You know.. This actually reminds me of a video game I used to play back in the early 80's where you would pilot a ship through cavernous trenches shooting bad guys. The ship was superimposed over a video image. It was response interactive like Dragon's Lair was. In fact, they were out at the same time...
WOW I found it!
Astron Belt!

haha, wow, I remember that. I played that too. (or rather looked over the shoulders of others who played it)

Duper:
It was done in Blender Internal Compositor, which I am still trying to get the hang of. I will probably sort that problem out soon.
Community request:
Pilot, yup sure, but either way the pyro won't last tong where it's heading....
Oh yes, that well known feature in pyro's the ejector down seat, for when the top of the ship is against the floor after trying to triple chord while rolling, and then flying into a gravity well!

I have a new image. Maybe next time I will only post a link to it. It is over 3 megapixels at the moment...
(Yes it took over an hour, nearly two actually, to render on this laptop!)
I also remembered to turn on shadows for this image!

Thanks for your comments.
Anything else I need to do to improve it?
Good to know.
The problem was with the security settings on the server I was trying to host the image on (no linking directly to files).
So when I realized that I just had to go and change them.

I was wondering if that black sky could have some kind of interesting star pattern. Example:

Also maybe tint the hue to match whatever color is dominate in the stars?
However, I think it looks fine as it is with out any more changes.

um.. about the only other thing I might add is see if you can render it at higher rez to get rid of the lines. (this coming from a guy that can barely make a sphere in Blender
)
Very nice!

Isaac, Yip, will do that soon
Duper:
That problem isn't with the rendering, it is with subdivision, and so is a but more complex to get rid of, but I can try.

Any way to soften the normals in Blender?
Also, did you use Blender for the motion blur? You may have better results using zoom blur in photoshop.
I wonder if you could give the jets a gradient glow? White hot center, getting yellow on the edges (and using fuzzy edges). Like this:
See how the edges are soft?
Good work overall

Soften normals?
Shade smooth is the tool name, and that is what I will do.
Motion blur isn't motion blur, it would take 8 or more times longer to render like that (arrgh, 16 hours). It is just a zoom filter in blenders compositor.
I need to work on the jets, as currently they are just a cone. Anyone know about volumes in blender?
What software did you make the glow sticks in, or did you just get them from google?

I just did a google search.
All my 3D experience is in Maya - Blender is kind of in it's own unique world, so everything I say probably doesn't work perfectly in Blender.
