Ends justify the means: F&F explained?

In a more sinister turn, "Fast and Furious" may have been created to KILL people...mass MURDER them for political ends.
The most damning revelations coming out of the hearings on Operation Fast and Furious held by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform are the unmistakable indications that the program was never designed to succeed as a law enforcement operation at all.
This is far beyond simple incompetence or negligence. Were this done anywhere else, these actions could be considered war crimes against humanity.
ATF Agent John Dodson, testifying in front of the committee, said that in his entire law enforcement career, he had “never been involved in or even heard of an operation in which law enforcement officers let guns walk.” He continued: “I cannot begin to think of how the risk of letting guns fall into the hands of known criminals could possibly advance any legitimate law enforcement interest.”

The obvious answer is that Gunwalker’s objective was never intended to be a “legitimate law enforcement interest.” Instead, it appears that ATF Acting Director Ken Melson and Department of Justice senior executives specifically created an operation that was designed from the outset to arm Mexican narco-terrorists and increase violence substantially along both sides of the Southwest border.
Will those responsible ever be held accountable and charged appropriately for the death and terror they caused? Unlikely.

I'm not sure I understand the point of wanting to increase border violence? What end would that have served? Bear in mind, this is all coming out via selected witnesses and a committee whose Chair is trying to make the administration look bad. I'm starting to suspect there is more to this story that we've thus far seen, and will thus refrain from further comment.

The facts are bad enough to assume the motives were too. That's good enough for me.

And, if you pay taxes…guess what you are indirectly guilty of?

(remember the context please)

When I said guilty, I meant those with prior, specific knowledge. I wasn't trying to make a broad statement on culpability. Just that THOSE people are, if they had any idea that arming thugs would eventually end someone's life.

I was referencing Henry David Thoreau's refusal to pay taxes on the grounds that tax dollars financed the war.

So if an ATF operation were undertaken allowing smugglers to sell guns to thugs in Canada and a drug gang wiped out your family because of a turf war with another gang both armed with American guns, would we care?
