$13,000 isn't huge- but really? Change an agency that protects your family for 'free' rental?

I'm sure that if they weren't renting from Mr. Biden, they'd have to rent it from someone else.

Chump change. Now how about ex-veep Cheney. He's still costing us some big bucks kiddies, and it will end up costing about 4 million greenbacks for his continued Secret Service Protection. The kicker, Obama approved it. The politician that keeps on taking after he's left office, courtesy of our new pres.

TC every Pres and VP get SS protection after they get out of office, they've got to protect him from political hating nut-jobs like you.
I don't have a problem with Biden charging for rent. as long as it's along market value for the area.

Not quite. Former Presidents get lifetime protection from the Secret Service after leaving office. VP's only get 6 months of protection after they leave office, but it can be extended, as Obama did for Cheney. I guess Darth Vader needs extra protection from all those enemies he made while in office. What does that tell you about Cheney and what he did while in office that he requires that extra protection?

I may dislike or even hate some former politicians, some from both parties by the way, Clinton included, and this IS a free country that allows me to have those opinions without fear of imprisonment. But "nut job"? A "nut job" would be someone that acts upon that hatred, something I've never considered at all.

I'm not against SS protection for former Presidents or VP's, even Clinton, Bush or Cheney, although in Cheney's case, he is so evil, I'm not pleased at all with having to pay for HIS extended protection. I was only pointing out what Biden charged for rental money from the SS is paltry compared to other expenditures we as taxpayers allow these people to use as perks of office.

2200 a month is what the previous tenants were paying, that is what the secret service pay. Wow, you guys are really grasping at straws when this is what you bring up. I thought you guys would be proud, I mean it's not a house where he provides late term abortions to underage illegal immigrants or anything, he's making his due and proper, what's wrong with that?

While I agree somewhat that Cheney & Co should be able to walk around here free from the idea of death by some idiot, I do find a certain amount of delight in the fact that both he and Bush cannot travel overseas due to the fact that they will most likely be arrested and tried for war crimes. And when Cheney's heart finally kicks it, I'll sit back with a cold brew and remind myself that death isn't always sad.

I guess I misunderstood it because you didn't say anything like that in your initial post! You whined about Obama paying for Cheney's protection. You were quick to point out more has been spent on Cheney but then Cheney has been under protection for 11 years and Biden for only 2...
I think you went into knee-jerk-defend-your-party mode when you saw Biden get mentioned you needed a bigger badder offense from the other side to bring up.
