I need to be able to blur a part of a video for privacy reasons so I can share the video with friends and family. Does anyone have any suggestions for software that can do this?

Almost any video editing suite should allow you to stick some arbitrary element over a portion of a frame. If blurring isn't available, just place some image or sign over the item you wish to remove. You can probably do it with windows movie maker.

After Effects make this really easy - you could download a trial of it (30 days), if quality is important to you.

Autodesk's Combustion 4 if quality really matters. ($100 used on amazon - cheap!) But After Effects is good, I just don't like it.
