I've been playing some uchess -dot- com games recently and it's gotten me thinking about a chess board with a U.S. Army theme.

Here's my theme:
Pawns = Barbed wire fence
Rooks = Tanks
Knights = Infantry (on foot. maybe 12 soldiers on each rook piece)
Bishops = Missile launching vehicles
Queen = Apache attack helicopter
King = Radio tower.

What would your arrangement be for each piece? Is mine good?

I would have a more futuristic us army theme:

pawn--sentry turret
Rook--tank
knight--hovering weapon platform
Bishop--some form of scout
Queen--mobile heavy weapon platform
King--command relay post

Interesting you choose the bishop to be a scout. Is that because you use it for for just coverage or reach?

I tend to use the bishops ability to cross large areas in a single turn. Making it to me a fast but light unit.
The rooks I tend to use for guarding.
