Go watch the movie. also note that the movie has Dogs that respond to musical candy and the villain sang a song "You're my little Choochie Face". ... it could also be the "Adventure Bros".

However, the car in the book could have, had the need merited. It was basically sentient and did what it needed in the moment.

I'm kind of glad I've never seen the movie version. After seeing a few short clips, it doesn't seem like it compares well to the book. And really, how can you top a kids' story written by the creator of 007?
