Trent Lott

Some of you remember the discussion we had concerning Trent Lott and the subsequent vilification of him by the leftist press for giving praise to Strom Thurmond. Why? Because they perceived Senator Thurmond was at one time a racist and so the press convicted Lott via guilt by association. Now we have Eric Holder giving race baiting Rev Al Sharpton huge praise.
Some of Sharptons past comments:

“White folks was [sic] in caves while we was building empires…. We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”

"“We will not stand by,” he warns malignantly, “and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business.”

So where is the liberal racist hating press? Any big stories about Holder being a racist because of praise heap on Sharpton? Well don't look for any. I just wonder what would happen to me if I drew up some bounty posters with Eric Holders face on it? Would I be benignly overlooked as the New Black Panthers were? Hardly.

A few questions for you:

How, exactly, did Holder 'praise' the Reverend Al?

Do you realize that those quotes by Brother Sharpton have a bit of age to them? And, if you go back even further, it can get
worse.....far worse.

Do you realize that those of us who live near Philly see that the whole New Black Panther thing was a pathetic spectacle, blown
up to ridiculous proportions for national consumption in the Right-Wing press? Seriously dude, no one was intimidated, most folks who encountered those yahoos laughed at them, and most of the folks they spouted to were black themselves. In short, they were a joke.....try not to make a Federal Case out of it, Justice was dead-right in not wasting taxpayer dollars on a non-threat.

Back to the man of the Hour. Al Sharpton is a self-inflated blowhard, who claims to speak for a community he no longer really represents well. He interjects himself, a la Geraldo Rivera or Rush Limbaugh into situations that don't require his presence. In the wake of actual achieving black men such as the President, Ron Noble(Interpol), etc, the Rev Al's and Jesse Jackson's face fading relevance. Don't sweat it.

FWIW, Strom Thurmond fit the mold I described in another thread as old-school Southern racist. He was a damnably pleasant soul, and in my presence a true Southern gentleman. However, I was but 14 or 15 at the time, and for all I know he could have real prick to others. I thought at the time that Lott got a raw deal, but that McConnell and others grabbed the chance to re-arrange the deck chairs and ran with the overwrought criticism to help him out the door.
