Hi all, Hopefully you can help me! I just bought this card because my old one crapped out. When I play in descent 3 The sound is horrible. Sounds like cracking. I can barley hear some weapons firing and cant hear when someone picks up the flag. Anyone have any Ideas? Thanks

One thing you might want to try is turning your sound quality all the way down and sound quantity all the way up. Both options can be found in the Options menu, under Sounds. It sounds backward to reduce the sound quality, but this often helps to resolve "popping" problems with the sound.

Yep. Sound quality on LOW fixes this issue.

This is not limited to TB-SC cards ...

Excessive calls of the video driver can force the sound driver to not be serviced. It has been found that introducing a frame-rate limiter will solve this problem also ... Try capping the framerate to say 100 or so and see if the problem persists. If the problem goes away then this is the case and you can experiment to find the maximum framerate your system can handle w/out the problem.

That has never happened to me ice and my system is definately CPU limited in descent3. I run HQ sound in D3 with no problems at all. I would put my money on IRQ sharing.

Try updating your drivers aswell

I have the TB SC and I have no problem. Driver update as Fernman suggests. Also what O.S. are you running?
