Did I killed my joystick ?
Did I killed my joystick ?
Hi,I have problem with my Sidewinder Force Feedback PRO,I have this joystick for 2 years and it was working fine until the power connector broked.I soldered 2 wires with new power connector to pins on back side of PCB.After this when i plug joystick to electrical line the handle turns immedietly up and there is buzz sound coming from motor when the handle reach max range in its direction and when i put hand on joystick and pull stick to centre its starts shaking also in the same direction, but it dont lloks that second motor is dead at all beacuase when i tried to play game i got some force feedback from the second axis.
Re: Did I killed my joystick ?
Sounds like you may have crossed the wires or bridged some solder points. Check undernaeth the board and see if you bridged any traces.
Re: Did I killed my joystick ?
I checked PCB,it looks OK nothing seems crossed, probably some components had to be damaged because of heat during soldering :/

...and this is why you always use heat sinks on nearby components when soldering.

Better to test with a circuit tester to see if things are really crossed or not, sometimes visual inspection isn't good enough.
